Musical Workshop with the Harmonious Wail

When: Saturday, August 11th - The workshop will run from 4:30-5:30pm and all attendees will receive tickets to their 7:30pm show. Food will be provided in between the workshop and show.

Who: This activity is for Community-Based matches or Littles to attend with a parent/guardian.  High School Bigs are able to attend on their own or with a friend but not their Little

Where: Paramount Theatre (913 West St. Germain St., St. Cloud, MN 56301)

What: Harmonious Wail is a 3 person musical group describing themselves as "Americana flavored Gypsy Jazz". Their performance includes vocals, mandolin, percussion, and bass. Harmonious Wail will host an hour long workshop focusing on the idea that if you can talk, you can sing.

BBBS Summer Picnic


When: Tuesday, July 24th 5:30-7:30pm

 

Who: Matches, waiting Littles, and families (Littles must be accompanied by a Big or parent/guardian)

 

Where: Northside Park (710 12th St N, Sartell, MN 56377)

 

What: Come have fun with a bouncy house, yard games, the Marines' combat course, the Sartell Police, and dinner. Chick-fil-A will be providing chicken sandwiches and we'll bring the sides and dessert. This is a great opportunity to connect with other Matches and families who are involved with BBBS!

Farm Camp

Sign your child(ren) up for Farm Camp through BBBS! The Benton County Farm Bureau has paid for 40 people to learn about dairy, beef, pigs, poultry, corn, soybeans, and vegetables while on a working dairy farm! This activity will take place on Tuesday, July 17th.

 

Youth must be going into the 3rd grade (fall 2018) or higher to attend. This activity is open to Littles, Bigs, school/site-based matches, community-based matches, parents/guardians, and siblings of Littles.

 

Attendees will be dropped off and picked up at Prince of Peace Lutheran School (4770 Co Rd 120, St. Cloud, MN 56303). Arrive at Price of Peace between 8:15am and 8:30am to check in and get on the bus. Attendees will be ready to be picked back up at Prince of Peace at 3:15pm.

 

From here the bus will take attendees to Meadowbrook Dairy in Sartell.

BBBS Night at the Rox Game

When: Sunday, July 8th 4:05pm game vs. Duluth Huskies

Where: Joe Faber Field (5001 Veterans Drive, St. Cloud, MN 56303)

Who: Community-based and school/site-based matches, Littles and their families, and high school Bigs.

What: Our group will sit in the 1st base lodge located above the 1st base dugout. Food and beverages will be provided.

Limit: 50 people


Craft Activity with The Sanctuary

When: Monday, June 18th 6:00-7:30pm


Where: The Sanctuary (2410 20th Avenue SE, St. Cloud, MN 56304)


Who: All matches and Littles. Littles do not need to attend with an adult.


What: Come to make outdoor tic tac toe boards with residents from The Sanctuary, an assisted living home in St. Cloud.

​Scrubs Camp

When: Tuesday, August 21st 4:00-7:00pm

Who: Preference will go to Littles 12 and older but there are a few spots for 10 and 11 year olds. All Littles must attend with a Big or parent/guardian.

Where: Good Shepherd Community (1115 4th Ave N, Sauk Rapids, MN 56379)

What: Come to experience hands-on activities and interactions with the residents in order to better understand working in various positions including nursing and dietetics. A picnic dinner will be included.

Limit: 20 youth

When: Wednesday, August 15th 5:00-8:00pm

Who: Matches only

Where: Summerland Family Fun Park (1050 28th Ave NE, Sauk Rapids, MN 56379)

What: The Darkhouse Anglers are hosting a night of go carts, mini golf, water slide, batting cages, and bumper boats. A picnic dinner will be provided.

Limit: 60 people

Bowling & Mini Golf

When: Wednesday, August 8th 5:30-7:30pm

Who: Matches, waiting Littles, and families (Littles must be accompanied by a Big or parent/guardian)

Where: McPete's Sports Bar and Lanes (590 Humboldt Dr, Big Lake, MN 55309)

What: A fun-filled night of bowling and mini golf!

Cost: $5 per person - pay at the event. Includes: bowling, bowling shoes, and mini golf.

Limit: 50 people

Transition to College Workshop

Smooth sailing from high school to college

Join us for this important workshop where you will learn how to become your own advocate in college, helping make your college experience positive and enjoyable!

Presentation by Kelly Radi author of Out to Sea: A Parent’s Survival Guide to the Freshman Voyage along with a panel of experts who will cover topics such as:

  • Campus safety
  • Living away from home for the first time
  • Financial aid
  • Classes and homework load – what to expect
  • Student engagement/services


Who: Current High School Juniors & Seniors (but open to any age interested in attending. Also open students not involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters) and their parent/guardian and/or mentor.

When: Thursday, July 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Where: St. Cloud Technical & Community College

Twins Bus

When: Sunday, July 15th 11:00am-6:00pm

Who: Matches, waiting Littles, and families (Littles must be accompanied by a Big or parent/guardian)

Where: Target Field (1 Twins Way, Minneapolis, MN 55403)
We will depart from Shopko East at 11:00am and plan to be back by 6:00pm. We will also make a stop in Rogers at Cub Foods (13855 Rogers Dr.) to pick up attendees.
Game time: 1:10pm

What: We will take a bus to go watch the Minnesota Twins take on the Tampa Bay Rays!

Cost: $5 per person - needs to be paid ahead of time to hold your spot

Limit: 47 people
